Spring Workout Looks

11:26 AM Mimi 6 Comments

There's nothing more satisfying than that feeling after a good workout session. Lately, I've been trying to workout more by attempting Kayla Itsines' BBG 12 week program. I'll probably do a review on the program when I'm finished, but right now I'm only on week 7. Going to the gym and being surrounded by other people working out is inspirational and always interesting. While doing the elliptical or treadmill, I always find my eyes wandering to look at people's gym outfits. Wearing something you feel sexy in has a huge positive impact on your workout. For that reason, I've compiled a few gym looks to get inspired from.

Gold headphones: Frends
Sports Bra: Varley
Tote: Cafe Press
Sweatshirt: Adidas
Shorts: New Look
Water Bottle: Nordstroms
Sneakers: Nike

Keep things vibrant with a minimalist look paired with a pop of tangerine. Anyone who is lucky enough to be tan at the time of year could pull this color palette off perfectly. I especially love this sassy bag with the "Bye Felicia" phrase that's been so popular lately.

Tank: Etsy
Sweater: Monki
Leggings: Victoria's Secret
Water Bottle: Dash
Sports Bra: House of Fraser
Headband: Under Armour

This outfit has both pattern play AND sass. I found the saying on the tank really ironic and hilarious... I hope you did, too. Wear an outfit like this to go running outside or even shopping in.

Sports Bra: Forever 21
Sunglasses: Gilt
Headphones: Dot & Bo
Bag: Victoria's Secret
Leggings: Lululemon
Sneakers: Nike

This last look has a great spring color palette using light greens and blues. But more importantly, how cool are these leggings? Some patterns are unflattering and can make legs look bigger instead of smaller, but I think the cutout mesh on these is figure flattering.

Let me know what you guys think! What do you wear to the gym? Would you say gym clothes are worth investing in? Comment below on your thoughts.
Until next time.

What to Wear For An Interview

3:03 PM Mimi 7 Comments

So you have an interview for that amazing summer internship you've always dreamed of and you can't help but freak out. This is your first chance to dive into the professional world and put something actually useful on your resume. You've visited your university's career advising for interview tips, but you can't help feeling that something is missing. Finally it's the morning of your interview and you realize the problem: You don't know what to wear! Well lucky for you, your girl Mimi has got some outfit ideas coming your way. Whether your internship is professional or more casual, always try and look your most presentable at an interview. First impressions last a long time and can be the deciding factor on whether you get the job. Here we go.

Blazer: Choies
T-shirt: Zara
Necklace: Taylor Boutique
Skirt: Zara
Heels: Jimmy Choo
Nail Polish: Essie

This look is for the career woman that is applying for a real deal professional internship. Every article of clothing is very conservative and sophisticated, yet graceful. Make sure the neckline isn't too steep and the skirt hemline isn't too short. Pair it all with a sleek pony and you're ready to kill that interview!

White top: Anthropologie
Trousers: Zara
Blazer: Rag & Bone
Earrings: Moorea Seal
Glasses: Anthropologie
Clogs: Michael Kors

If the job or internship you are applying for has more of a casual, creative vibe then translate that into your outfit! Interviewers will definitely notice your sense of artistry in your clothing especially since it is their first impression of you. Just remember to still keep things clean and professional.

Blazer: H&M
Top: Urban Outfitters
Trousers: Forever 21
Eyeliner: Revlon
Sandals: Target
Earrings: Urban Outfitters
Phone Case: Etsy

For those of you who are on a budget, and let's be honest job hunters usually are, then this look is tailored just for you. When looking for affordable, professional clothing, I find that H&M and Zara (sale) are your best options. No one said you needed to buy designer to look fab, darling. The trick is to make your hair and makeup polished.

Blazer: Zara
Shirt: Uniqlo
Pants: Selected
Shoes: Church's

Because everyone needs interview outfit inspiration, I decided to create a look for males as well. Men's fashion is as fun, if not more fun, than women's fashion in my opinion. There are so many ways to mix and match tops and bottoms with jackets and shoes. To check out more male's fashion, read Adam Gallagher's blog I AM GALLA. His blog displays beautiful photos of his California meets New York style which looks like it came straight out of a Zara catalogue.

I hope that my interview fashion inspiration and tips helps your future job or internship hunt! Let me know in the comments what your take on office style is. Slay those interviews!
Until next time.

Spring Savors: Brussels Sprout Sliders

1:41 PM Mimi 2 Comments

I first saw this vegetarian brussels sprout sliders recipe on Pinterest and was immediately in love with the idea of substituting the bread with a vegetable. I think healthier versions of classic foods, if executed well, is such a fun way to enjoy food. Even if you aren't a huge brussels sprouts fanatic, I think this recipe is still worth trying. The final result tasted smokey and sweet all at once with the sweet onions and rich flavoring of the brussels sprouts. If you want more of a meat filled appetizer, feel free to use real burger meat or even proscuitto instead of tempeh. I substituted tempeh with just a vegetarian burger because my local grocery store didn't carry tempeh. Also, if you don't have tamari in your cabinet, you can always use a light soy sauce instead. This recipe will be the first installment of a Spring recipe series so look forward to the next spring main course! If you try out this recipe, let me know how it tasted.
Until next time.

Travel Hacks 101

1:40 PM Mimi 3 Comments

With summer around the corner, people will be traveling left, right, up and down. Whether you are traveling by car, train or airplane, being prepared to travel comfortably and efficiently is key. I personally LOVE traveling by plane. I know this isn’t a popular opinion, but for some reason I love the idea of walking through an airport surrounded by strangers from different parts of the world. I think the airport is a great way to encounter people from all types of backgrounds. That being said, I wanted to share a few ideas on traveling like a Kiss Me Kloth pro.

1. Packing

Depending on where you go, the first step to travelling like a pro is to check the weather app. I find that seeing the exact temperature narrows down a lot of clothing options and reminds me not to pack 5 swimsuits. The next step is to make a list. Now, this list doesn’t have to be a full on story, but just a few general categories jotted down can really help. I usually have 6 labels: clothes, shoes, makeup, toiletries, accessories and technology. And finally, don’t forget to ROLL lighter weight clothing items and LAY DOWN heavier sweaters on top. This trick really can allow for more room in an already cramped suitcase.

2. Style

Ok, if you are the person who likes to wear stilettos while waiting in long lines at the airport please stop reading now. This article isn’t for you, congratulations on your insanely fit calves. FOR THE REST OF US who just want to get somewhere in one piece, read on. Flat shoes, whether they are sneakers, boots, or sandals are a MUST. For the chilly air conditioning on the plane (is anyone else freaked out by the recycled air or is that just me?), bring some type of sweater or cardigan. My favorite cozy accessory for planes: fuzzy socks. Let me tell you, these babies have really saved me. Cold feet = cold life, people. A scarf is another warm accessory that can double as a pillow for those of you who didn’t bring a neck pillow (more on that down below). For the bottoms half, I’d say stay away from any material that involves squeezing or anything you couldn’t eat a Thanksgiving dinner in. Sweats, leggings, or even some baggy shorts will do. Rompers are hella comfortable, but going to the bathroom can sometimes be a struggle.

Jacket: YSL
Shirt: Forever 21
Pants: Nelly
Suitcase: Nordstrom
Sneakers: Nike via Bloomingdales

Cardigan: H&M
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
Hear band: Lane Crawford
Bag: Hermes
Shoes: Converse

3. Essentials

These are just some quick little products that improve a travel experience immensely. Because planes, trains, and buses are so dry, lotion, lip balm, and eye drops are lifesavers. For all the sleeping beauties, remember to pack a sleeping mask and a neck pillow. No one wants to be that weirdo who will sleep on a stranger’s shoulder. It could be a great conversation starter, but why make things awkward? Earphones, of course, are essential for watching movies, listening to music, or even just blocking out that baby behind you’s incessant screaming. I have a theory that whenever there’s a crying baby on a plane, all the passengers experience motherhood for that short (or long) period of time.

Waterbottle: Connox
Neck Pillow: Nordstrom
Ear phones: Kirna Zabete
Eye Mask: Asos
Lip Balm: Burt's Bees
Hair Ties: Madewell
Lotion: Kiehl's
Socks: Etsy

4. Entertainment

And finally, my favorite category of all: “What to Do While Waiting for 4 Hours”. Of course, you have your iPhone and you’ve never scrolled down Instagram so hard in your life, but let’s get creative here. You can always start a new read, one time I finished a whole book, BJ Novak's One More Thing: Stories and Other Stories, while waiting for a flight. It was the perfect combination of hilarious and enlightening and you should all run to your nearest book store to buy it now. Also if you don’t have wifi on the plane, releasing yourself from technology at this time would be beneficial. My favorite magazines that I buy from the airport shops are Lucky, Cosmopolitan, The Food Network Magazine, and Better Homes and Gardens. Although I must say that if you are in the middle of the raunchy “100 New Sex Positions” article in Cosmo be aware of your surroundings. Those pictures can get pretty graphic. My next entertainment recommendation is podcasts. I know I’m late to this party, but I’ve lately become incredibly addicted and will soon be posting an article on my favorite podcast shows. Podcasts remind me that there is an incredible amount of knowledge at our fingertips     and it is easier to access than we realize! But if you’re tired of reading or listening to things, there’s always sleep. Sleep conquers all activities.

I hope all of my tips will help you travel bugs on your future summer adventures!
Until next time.

A Tale of Two Cities: West Coast vs. East Coast

1:03 PM Mimi 3 Comments

Today is a big day. Today is the day we discuss the topic of east coast vs. west coast. This is an age old debate that pops up in sports, entertainment, and music especially. Now, I'm not here to say one is better than the other because I think they each have their own positives and negatives. Born and raised in Los Angeles, I am proud to say that I'm a total west coast girl. I grew up surrounded by towering palms, embraced by wonderful warmth, and graced by notorious traffic. As a child, my car basically became my home from all the commuting across town (till this day I sleep wonderfully on a road trip). Now I reside in Montreal, Quebec (CANADA: for those of you who live under a rock) which could as mine as well be located on the other side of the world. I am definitely #blessed that I grew up in the city of dreams yet now live in a place filled with incredible culture unlike anywhere else. Although both cities are probably two of the best in the world, they couldn't be more opposite. Living in Montreal is my very first taste of the east coast, and I have to say I've noticed an abundance of differences. Well friends, today I enlighten you all with my astute observations... Let's do this.

Disclaimer: I don't mean to offend anyone through stereotyping. These are just my personal understandings of my surroundings. My opinions definitely aren't the only ones that exist and I'm probably not even correct on most things. Yay.

Weather

Venice Beach boardwalk, Los Angeles, California #SoCal #californiadreaming
image via Pinterest

I'll start with the obvious. We all know the west coast has the most sun and I never realized how great I had it. Living through a real winter wasn't easy, so for all you folks living in sun, ENJOY IT. The weather has such an effect on lifestyle especially when it comes to your mood. Vitamin D is actually the real deal. Constantly being pressured to stay indoors to be honest can feel prison-like at times. Of course during the holidays, being surrounded by fluffy snow feels merry and cheerful, but once New Year's ends it just feels... cold. I found that being indoors conveniently relates to every other aspect of one's life... in other words the weather actually effects everything.

Attitude

Some of you may have heard that those who live on the west coast are much more chill compared to the career driven east coast. Of course this can't apply to everyone because we are all individuals bla bla bla, yeah I know. BUT there is some truth that holds! First of all, the city life in Montreal is much different than the city life of LA especially because LA is just urban sprawl and Montreal is way more compact. Second, I have noticed that east coasters are not as polite specifically in regards to driving culture. Although LA's freeways are mega packed, people are still mildly civil. East coast drivers WILL run you over. My theory goes straight back to the weather. I honestly believe that warmth and sun creates a more happy environment, hence why east coasters are way more tough. I mean, I don't blame them... winters here are no joke, guys. You need to have thick skin or pro hibernation mode skills.

Food

Traditional Quebec Poutine Recipe: a little fancier than your typical three-ingredient poutine. Delish! #ComfortFood
image via MTL Blog
Let me present a Montreal favorite, poutine: french fries smothered in gravy and topped with cheese curds. The first time I tasted poutine my mouth pretty much exploded from delight. The third and fourth time, I think I had trouble keeping it down. There is a time and place for this particular delicacy, just make sure you plan on gym-ing hard the next day. Of course smoked meat is another Montreal food that I love and cannot live without. Foodies will find themselves overjoyed by Montreal's vast assortment of French restaurants and vegan eateries. I personally haven't eaten out as much as I've liked to, but I hope this will change soon. Being the massive foodie that I am, I probably will have a future post reviewing local Montreal eateries.
Nevertheless, I still love my tacos. ANNOUNCEMENT: Tacos and In N' Out win every time. I have to say the Asian and Mexican food game in Montreal stinks. And these genres of food are really important to me, so this may be a deal breaker. Also, based on my recent trips to Provigo, the produce on the west coast just seems fresher. So... east coast: 0, west coast: 3?

Style

One of the first things I usually notice in a place is the overall style and local trends. The LA look can vary from Angelino to Angelino, but I must say I see a bit too much Brandy Melville for my liking. I tend to associate west coast style with loose structures and denim fabrics. Here's my take on the typical "West Coast" style or more specifically, Cali style.

Jacket: Madewell
Dress: Threadsense
Sunglasses: Madewell
Necklace: Madewell (also on sale!)
White top: Witchery
Boots: Free People

On the other end of the spectrum, I found that Montreal women often dressed in a uniform. This repeated combination included knit sweater, black jeans, black jacket, black boots, and some thick black rimmed glasses. As you can see, a ton of black. Black is one of my favorite colors for the reason that it is sophisticated as hell. I think the "east coast vibe" creates more sophisticated and structured outfits that are comfortable for walking in the city, but also looking model chic constantly (this does some work on the ego).

Jacket: Ralph Lauren
Glasses: Wildfox
Sweater: Topshop
Jeans: Topshop
Lipstick: Lipstick Queen
Nail polish: Illamasqua
Boots: Yoins

I know this was a long one. If you made it this far, congratulations you are officially my favorite. My conclusion is a peaceful one: both coasts are incredible and should be valued for their individual perks. However, I do love a little rivalry here and there. Let me know in the comments below which team you are on!

Thanks for reading and until next time.

59 Seconds: Change Your Life In Under a Minute

10:28 AM Mimi 0 Comments

The self help book industry preys on those who seek quick and efficient ways to adjust and improve their current lifestyles. I am guilty of being one of those people... #sorrynotsorry. Because I am a psychology nerd, I picked this gem up a few months ago at a bookstore, hoping that it would be not only interesting, but also instructive for my personal life. My gateway into the lifestyle improvement literature began with The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin a few years back. Although I don't remember every little detail of the book, I do remember that it made me significantly happier to read about her happiness project. For those of you who have not read this book, I'll give you a quick summary. Basically Gretchen takes out an entire year of her life to improve specific parts of her existence like her marriage, kids, career, exercise, etc in hopes of finding what most of us do indeed hope to find eventually: happiness. I won't spoil whether she actually did succeed, for those who haven't read the book, but I don't really think that was the point. These self help books won't change your life instantly. Change involves a great deal of work and time. Books like The Happiness Project or 59 Seconds: Change Your Life In Under a Minute are just the stepping stones to realizing that the road towards happiness is possible and maybe easier than we think. These authors basically outline various methods to change in hopes that the reader may take two or three things to heart and start their own journeys.

Richard Wiseman, author of 59 Seconds: Change Your Life In Under a Minute, took a more psychological approach to lifestyle progress. For those of you who are not interested in psychological experiments or the "science" to self help, then you may want to just skip to the conclusion page. Wiseman is thorough in his approach to proving why his techniques should work which is nice because I definitely believe him, but it sometimes can be a tad dull. There are 10 chapters on various topics like happiness, persuasion, motivation, creativity, and more. Each chapter has a few techniques that you can do to improve these things in under 59 seconds, supposedly. These techniques are usually very simple like hanging a mirror in your kitchen so you don't over eat or buying a potted plant for the office to help the flow of creative performance. Overall, I find these quick fixes fascinating and actually very effective. They are not only scientifically proven to work, but also easy as hell.

My personal favorite chapter was "Personality" at the end. I'm always a sucker for a good personality quiz (check previous post here) so obviously I fully enjoyed reading his tips on this topic. Did you know that according to one psychology theory called "The Big Five", there are only 5 labels that make up a personality? Easily remembered as OCEAN, they are openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. He includes a quick test in the book that assesses your position on each label. I mean, there are also a billion personality quizzes on the internet that are free, but I like his writings on the subject.

All in all I found the book very rewarding and insightful and for those of you who like self help books with a sprinkle of science, I highly recommend it. If you do pick it up and read it, let me know what you think!
Until next time.

P.S. A friend informed me that I MAY OR MAY NOT be psychic in regards to my Silver Hair post a few days ago. I would just like to say, I did not know that Rihanna would be sporting silver hair in her new American Oxygen video when I wrote that post. I could just be the hair whisperer. You never know.

Silver Hair: Yay or Nay?

9:26 PM Mimi 0 Comments

Never in a million years did I think going grandma would be a trend forced to be reckoned with. 2015 has brought many new and exciting looks, one of which being the "silver fox" do. Ok. Let's just establish right now that in this situation "silver" means gray with a slight polish. I don't know who started this granny party, but I have to say if done well, the look isn't half bad. I think I've seen enough positives to cancel out the negatives. The combination of gray with other colors such as pink or blue can make the gray work with a bit of youth thrown in. As long as the texture or actual style of the haircut says "young", than we have a deal. Also, be aware of the outfit paired with silver hair... you don't want to fall down that dangerous hole and look like you belong in another decade, k thx.
Also Rihanna's doing it?! This seems to be a theme on this blog.

Which Swimsuit Best Describes You?

10:22 PM Mimi 0 Comments

I don't know about you, but I am a HUGE Buzzfeed quiz addict. I'm all about knowing which Friends character I am, what city I should live in when I'm older, and even if I'm more peanut butter or jelly. There's something so satisfying in discovering who we are through everyday things we love. There was a point in my life when I would dedicate hours of beautiful sunny days sitting on my bed taking these magical quizzes that seemed to all make sense. Except when I got Cersei Lannister as my destined Game of Thrones soulmate. That wasn't cool Buzzfeed. But given my love of personality associations with everyday objects, I thought what's more fun than swimwear? The answer is nothing. Yep, nothing at all.

Kardashian Bombshell

If you are a gal who loves to show off those curves, then this swimsuit is for you. There is a reason why Kim Kardashian sports these swimsuits so well. The shape of the swimsuit is slimming and flattering for most body types. So if you are a glamorous, well maintained woman who loves being classy with a sexy edge, try an all black swimsuit for this summer. I promise you will turn so many heads you won't know what to do, but seductively smile back.

Swimsuit: Victoria's Secret
Sunglasses: Freyers
Hat: Urban Outfitters
Bag: Celine
Kimono: Anna Sui
Sandals: Zara

Electric Sea Urchin

Quirky, adventurous, and alive. If these three traits sound familiar, take this fun look out for a spin by the sea. Don't be afraid to get even more crazy with your color palette! The more color and pattern, the more fun.

Swimsuit: Topshop
Sunglasses: Wildfox
Clogs: Miu Miu
Pencil: Urban Decay

Romantic Waves

Sometimes the simplest route is the most effective. If you are more of a delicate flower than a hardcore rager, play around with soft palettes for swimsuit season. Pale blues, greens, and purples are very on trend for spring, even though a classic white always wins.

Swimsuit: Asos
Cardigan: JCrew
Hat: ModCloth
Earrings: Vintage Chanel
Sandals: Madewell

If you aren't a seductress, adventurer, or romantic, I'm sure you can find that these looks can work for anyone with any personality. You never know, you may be a romantic craving to spice things up. For swimsuit season, don't buy the usual bikini you do every year... try something new. There are so many options out there, expensive and affordable, that we have the luxury to play around.

I hope you enjoyed reading up on swimsuits... and found a bit of self discovery along the way. Until next time.

Mimi

How to Dress a Mixed Face

10:10 AM Mimi 0 Comments

"So what are you?"
I'm not offended by this question even though I've been asked it more often than what is my name. I've written personal essays on it and grown up well rounded because of it. And that is being mixed race. I am a Chinese-Hungarian Jewish woman and proud of it. Having textured hair with olive skin and slanted eyes is no longer something I find frustrating. Being hapa is what makes me unique.

ha•pa (hä’pä) adj. 1. Slang. of mixed racial heritage with partial roots in Asian and/or Pacific Islander ancestry. n. 2. Slang. a person of such ancestry

There are so many advantages to growing up surrounded by people from different cultures. You always know how to "Dim Sum" properly and you party at Bar Mitzvahs like no other. I think I can vouch for my fellow mixed people that sometimes there are its downfalls. Being surrounded by one side of your culture can leave you feeling like the outsider. However, I think having a puzzle as a face makes life interesting.

We can talk about this subject all day, especially since I am so passionate about it. However, I want to particularly discuss the beauty side of mixed race. Many times makeup brands forget about a skin tone because they categorize colors into mono races. Many beauty tutorials forget that not everyone can put 100 eyeshadow colors on a lid for the simple reason that there isn't enough room! (Asians, can I get an amen). I'm sure people with textured hair have trouble with hair tutorials that appear so easy on hair that is naturally already straight. We live in a world where people need to be more open to varying appearances.

For those of you who are mixed race and looking for some inspiration on beauty, fashion, or just life, I have a few suggestions.

Hapa Time

Shameless Maya

I can't rave enough about this woman. For those of you lucky enough to be blasian (mixed Black and Asian), look no further. Maya is a beautiful youtube makeup lifestyle guru who will seriously make you laugh and also just marvel at her fierceness. Visit her youtube channel here for inspiration on beauty or just to watch her be fantastic.

Jhene Aiko

Let's not forget Jhene Aiko. This girl knows how to rock being Japanese and Black to the T. Also, I heavily get down to her music... "The Worst" anyone? Oldie, but goodie.

And that's all folks! I hope you enjoyed my slight intro to mixed race in the beauty department, more future posts on this subject will follow.

My Favorite Blogs

2:32 PM Mimi 0 Comments

I believe that the blogs you follow say a lot about who you are. Following other bloggers is a way of finding inspiration in people who you don't really know, but you feel like you can relate to. I find that reading someone else's blog is such a great way to get to know someone, almost like going through a photo album. I especially admire those who are willing to share their most personal moments with the internet. Sharing what you love and do brings joy to the reader, and most importantly, the writer.
Maybe you can get to know a little more about me as I share some of my favorite blogs.

Cupcakes and Cashmere

Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere is probably my number one blogger for an abundance of reasons. First, I admire her style in every aspect of her life. Her clothes are always laid back with a touch of adult sophistication. I've been following her for awhile, so I've seen her style transform as she's grown from a trendy young adult to a fashionable mother. Second, I love that she is confident enough to share her personal moments with her readers including her gorgeous wedding and beautiful birth story. She works full time on her blog with her husband, which I find absolutely adorable. I appreciate that she treats her website like it is her business (which it is) resulting in professional pictures and stories. Many times she's posted helpful career advice, showing that she cares about her readers' futures. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention her food recipes! Emily often cooks Jewish food with a modern twist, which I love because I am also Jewish. All in all, Cupcakes and Cashmere is a fabulous blog for those interested in a woman who really has mastered the perfect lifestyle blog.

Collage Vintage

Louis_Vuitton_Spring_Summer_2015-Madrid_Store-Collage_Vintage-Outfit-21

Collage Vintage captured my attention the first time I visited it almost 6 years ago. It was my first fashion blog that I regularly follow and still do to this day. Sara Escudero has a very European, Zara-esque style that contributes to my knowledge of whats happening trend-wise overseas. She is never an outfit repeater and always has fresh takes on sophistication. Her pictures are always well edited, her website is very clean, and her posts are bilingual. My only complaint would be that she frequently posts magazine editorials, but that's a personal issue since I'm not really an avid magazine editorial fan. Check out Sara's blog for a look into classy wear from a hot Spanish mama!

Sincerely, Jules

paigedenim.jpg_effected

Jules of Sincerely, Jules DEFINES casual sexy. Her outfits mainly consist of denim, cottom, and maybe some leather here and there. If you are looking for warm weather outfit inspiration, this girl has got you. I also would like to mention her flawless tan that makes me cringe every time I peek at my typing pale hand. But seriously, Jules has lovely well edited photos as well as an easy website layout. I'm not a huge fan of the complicated layouts that take forever to really digest. I like when the outfits are there right in front of your face for easy access (I know, I'm a lazy gal). For those who are attempting to understand the Los Angeles chillin' lifestyle, Jules is for you. She's got that "I juice even though I'm skinny enough that I don't really need to" look down solid. All in all, she is a great follow and I highly recommend this blog.

Karla's Closet

helm15

Karla from Karla's Closet makes me want to cry and sing at the same time. Her body is fierce as hell. Her vintage meets seductive clothing repertoire is to die for. Her feet are probably going to fall off by the time she is 30 because she is always wearing a soaring pair of stilettos. But pain is gain. I also have been following her blog from my humble beginnings. I guess I've always been attracted to her total confidence in style. She seems to really not care about trends as much and just wears what she loves and knows she looks hot in. I admire that she has been sporting a shorter hair-do for most of her fashion blogging career. Most people can't really pull off the boy haircut, but she does it with spunk and grace. You can also actually shop her closet which mostly consists of really unique vintage items. You will not regret scrolling through her outfits, even if it isn't your style, you have to admit she is beyond fierce.

The Beauty Department

TUTORIAL + PHOTOGRAPHY BY AMY NADINE, GRAPHIC DESIGN BY EUNICE CHUN

The Beauty Department, known as Marie Claire's favorite beauty blog, gives you the inside on anything and everything relating to beauty. You know those awesome hair tutorials you see on Pinterest that look gorgeous, but impossible to do? Yep, that's from The Beauty Department. Even though most of their tutorials seem impossible, the pictures are pretty to look at. I love their fun makeup ideas because they usually are fresh and unique. If you are ever having any hair troubles, bobby pin malfunctions, or pimple problems The Beauty Department has a solution. Amy Nadine, Kristin Ness, and famous Lauren Conrad are always thinking of innovative beauty tips to contribute to the online community.

The Man Repeller

Leandra Medine, the Man Repeller, is an all-star woman and we should all bow down.
1. Her unforgiving outfits prove that women dress for themselves (maybe another girl friend or two) BUT THAT'S IT. No men allowed. Just kidding, I'm pretty sure she's happily married to a male, but STILL. She dresses like erry day is fashion week and she is the only VIP.
2. She is also HIGH-LARIOUS. Anyone who enjoys comedy writing will surely laugh while reading her stories. She is an incredible writer who on top of that writes on the thing we all know and love: fashion.
